We left Chicago last night, unfortunately on a very delayed flight, and arrived into Paris' Charles de Gaulle Airport around 2pm. Unfortunately we had little delays all along the way, from an automated customs machine that allowed me through, but stopped working just as Alexandra stepped through, to long lines getting various tickets, and getting on a local train instead of an express train. After collecting our luggage we first stopped at the Tourism Information booth to purchase a Paris Museum Pass. We then headed to the train station where we waited in a long slow line to purchase a Navigo Découverte card that provided us with unlimited travel on trains and busses around Paris. These cards are meant more for Paris residents, but can work well for tourists. Since the weekly pass is good Monday through Sunday it worked perfectly for us.
We stayed at the Bastille Speria which was close to the Bastille Metro station which is served by three train lines With Paris' extensive public transportation network it made getting around fairly easy.
After finally making it to our hotel and getting checked in and relaxing for a little bit, we went out for dinner and did a little exploration of the Bastille area. We had dinner at Chez Paul. Following dinner we explored a little, admiring all the shops and restaurants and their fancy entryway's.
